Your Eyes are the Mirror to your Soul

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”Matthew 6.22

There’s many of us who are more in our minds than others. And there are times you’ll catch yourself saying “I’m not going to amount to anything,” I’m not as good as…” etc., you know what I’m getting at. We play the victim mentality. When we acknowledge that we are not our mind and we start opening our heart that’s when the tide starts to move.

Our body, our cells are intelligent. They are all connected. The body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs. Our body is always talking to us. Every cell within our body responds to every single thought we think and every word we speak.

Let’s take a few minutes to sit in front of a mirror. Close your eyes, and breathe deeply several times. Look in the mirror and say out loud “I love you“.  Say it again. “I love you” Feel the vibration of your words.

The mirror reflects back to you the feeling you have about yourself. It makes you immediately aware of where you are in resistance and where you are open.

For 2 minutes a day for several weeks, look in the mirror and tell yourself how great you are. Begin to say out loud any affirmations. Below are a few examples.

• I’m too old (or not old enough): I am an infinite being. The age of my body has no bearing on what I do or who I am.

• I don’t deserve it: I am a Divine creation, a piece of God. Therefore, I cannot be undeserving.

• I’m not smart enough: I am a creation of the Divine mind; all is perfect, and I am a genius in my own right.

• I’m too scared: I can accomplish anything I put my mind to because I know that I am never alone.

Enjoy. Love and peace. xo

  1. Recently found a book ‘We’ by Gillian Anderson & Jennifer Nadel. An affirmation ‘my name is Margaret. I am a good & kind person. I do not need to please everyone. I do enough. I am enough.’ Is recommended to be read twice daily from a prominent place, mine is inside of mirrored bathroom cabinet. Not an easy task for me but trying.

  2. Love love love this, Bernice! You have such wisdom to share here in your affirmations, the mirror exercise, and more! Each day, I pause in front of the mirror, say “I love you. Thank you.” and give myself a hug. 🙂 Consider yourself hugged too !! Lots of loving to you, Bernice. Bless you in all ways, Debbie

  3. Very intuitive and well said. It is a very nice shift to go from accepting outside verbiage that may be harmful or detrimental to positive inside affirmation. We need to seal off the doors that go nowhere, and become an opening that leads to somewhere great.

  4. It’s so true. Our eyes really are the mirror to our soul. How powerful to look ourselves in the eye and say those empowering words. It really does make a difference. Thank you for this. ❤️

  5. Lets say I have less than positive thoughts about myself and someone had told me that I must accept and love myself to do good. I just cant muster up the attitude and the guts to do so.

    1. It takes practice. First, these ideas about yourself may be words spoken from someone who doesn’t know the real you. It’s their perception of you. You’re a beautiful and loving soul. Tears, criticizism, doubt may occur- that’s fear. Try it when you’re ready. But try it. 💗

  6. What a powerful post. How my eyes see me impacts me. Changing the way I see myself makes a better life. Equally, if my eyes old on to the pain i have seen, and my eyes are clouded with darkness.. the matthew 6:22 is profound.

    Loved this.

  7. Every word I vote and endorse.
It is so true that Eyes matter so much to see the Soul. Bernice, I practice this seeing the mirror much before I learnt that it is so.
    Amen!
