Why It’s So Important to Tell Your Truth, No Matter What Others Think

I recalled a former colleague named Carol who recently moved from the Midwest to the Big Apple. When we had time to chat, she would say how she thought New Yorkers were rude. After all, I’m a native New Yorker myself. Trust me; we’re not trying to be rude. I know we can seem rushed and impatient sometimes, but it’s because we’re always on the go to get to work or meet a deadline.

Carol had a tough time adjusting to the fast pace life of New York City. She was constantly getting bumped into by people on the street, and it started frustrating her. One day, she snapped. She said she went out and purchased a bright pink wig. She went to the corner of the street and shouted, “Can’t we all just get along?”

As she started telling me the story, yes, with the bright pink wig on, at first, I didn’t know what to think. I couldn’t hold the laughter that was bursting to come out.

But as she continued, I could see in her eyes her sincerity and realized she was like many people who wanted to be seen and heard, not disrespected.

We all have a unique voice meant to be shared with the world. Unfortunately, we often allow our fears and doubts to keep us from speaking our truth. We may worry that we will be ridiculed or misunderstood, so we stay silent.

I was reminded of this recently when I saw someone wearing a brightly colored wig. I thought of Carol, and it made me smile.

  1. The one thing that we can feel above all else…is that truth we stand in…or not. We always project what we are and the closer to that truth, the closer we become to ourselves…and others in doing it. Great post dear lady, may we all dare our pink wigs 😀❤️🙏🏽
