I’m tired of the cold. It’s the ache. It’s the gloom. I burrow under mountains of blankets and I can’t seem to make my body move. I feel slow and sluggish.
We’re being hit with a major snowstorm in the Northeast. Did Mother Nature lose track of the days? Spring is just a few days away.
During the wee hours of the night, the wind whistled and the trees in our backyard swayed. We’re expected to have between 1 to 2 feet of snow; yep…feet not inches.
I get up early curious to see how it looks out. I walk to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee, with my four legged friend in tow. Morning dim light shines in through our windows and I notice the ground is covered in snow. What a beautiful sight! This is my favorite time of the day. While everyone is sleeping, I have the solitude to contemplate and a quiet moment to think while I gaze out the window with my warm coffee mug clasped in my hands.
Quiet, stillness, clean, beautiful, soft and magical are a few of the words that come to mind.
Here’s a pic of what I see.

The flowers in the front of the house are confused. They’ve sprung from underneath the soil and looking for some way to run for cover.
Most of the businesses are closed today. When the snow builds up outside it envelops us in a warm cocoon. Great day to stay indoors with my two different cozy-colored socks on, my PJ’s and curl up with a good book and a cup of hot tea or watch a movie or just do nothing.
That is a lot of snow! It’s pretty too, but I don’t know if I’d like to be stuck in my house. I agree with you that it’s a good time to watch a movie or read a great book. What part of the world do you live? We don’t get much snow in Vegas.
It is pretty-at first. But I’m ready for Spring to arrive already. I live in New York. The other side of town from you. 😉
I was wondering if you did. I have a sister who lives in NY. NY, NY actually. I have visited there and Rochester. Beautiful places, but I like my sun! 🌝☀️
that looks too beautiful!
Oh! That’s not looking good!
Stay warm and cosy, spring will be here soon xx
Enjoy snuggling inside while you can. Before you know it the sun will be out and the snow will be gone. Summer is over here in Melbourne but our days (and nights) are still sweltering hot. I’m longing for some cool rain. xo
Wow!! That’s a lot of snow!!
Same here, mid sixties this week and more snow forecasted next week. Sending a warm hug, hang in there, the sunshine is around the corner. Eventually….
The weather is indeed very strange. It has been such a mild winter here in Ireland. I do hope you get warm weather soon. 😊
I hope so too although it’s nice getting a break from work.
😊
Same here! Snuggle in 💛
Will do. 😊
a good book, sounds like a good time, thanks for the post
…or reading posts from wordpress. 🙂
enjoy the snow
I do think there’s a little of the bear in us. Humans are meant to hibernate in winter, at least partially. Wish you warmth and safety while you weather the storm and its aftermath.
I’m in the capitol district of upstate NY and for once… the only time in my life (outside of 7 years spent in Arizona) the snow did not hit me. I can’t even describe how odd this is. And still I’m thankful to not be living in Buffalo. I can’t believe my backyard doesn’t look like yours. This is my way of crudely saying “I feel your pain.” I am NOT a fan of the white stuff.
Lol. I understand you completely. I hope this is it for us.
Hi! I like how you captured the view from outside your window. Great writing.
Thank you!
You have a very interesting blog.
I have nominated you for the Liebster Award

Thank you I’m humbled by this.
I feel the same way. Nicely put
Life is optimistic…we have to take it. Focus on it and live it. The sight you saw from your kitchen is wintry and full of hope and optimism. Love it. Nice post. yaz
Thanks Yaz for your kind words.
What life throws our way is always cause for optimism. If we read what it is saying, it is always bringing us greater awareness and setting us up for the next step. Each moment and event is there to make us better and stronger.
Snow is always beautiful. It almost has a mystical feel in your pic.
Yes – snow does have a magical feel when it first hits the ground. Hope ur enjoying ur weekend.
Though it rarely snows in Las Vegas where I am, I feel like this about a rainstorm. The pouring down water seems to wash away not just the dirt outside. The thunder reminds me that God is still very present. The aftermath seems so much calmer and refreshing, like this is just what we needed. Like the post!
I love a good rainstorm myself – at night only. 😄
