Natural Flow of Life

“True mastery can be gained by letting things go their own way. It can’t be gained by interfering.” ~ Lao Tzu

For a while now I’ve been letting go of being in the driver’s seat and controlling how my life unfolds.

Contrary to what we were led to believe, life isn’t meant to be a struggle. Life isn’t meant to be hard. But we make it so by clinging onto fear and resisting the natural flow of life. In other words, trying to control every step of how our life should unfold.

I’m not saying that we ought to lie in bed and do nothing. What I am saying is once we do something, whatever it may be…let go of the resistance to influence the outcome. I know firsthand it’s not that easy but I learned I do not have to manage everything. For one it’s exhausting. Secondly, we are not alone in this universe.

That is what I have been working on for some time. Trusting the divine/God/myself, trusting the universe and having faith that all will be where it should be. It hasn’t been easy at first, because I’m that person who wants to know what comes next…how’s the outcome going to look?

That is where Faith steps in. Faith is one helluva gal. I envision an outcome, and weeks/months later she comes in with a huge smile and presents me with something similar or something entirely unexpected. What?! Perhaps I didn’t think of it that way because I may have been thinking small. So I welcome the experience and am grateful for it.

Life is NOT AGAINST you. Life is FOR you. In the same way you trust the sun to shine and give you light; in the same way, you believe that your breath, your heart, will continue to function—it’s the exact same way you need to learn to trust your inner wisdom, and also the understanding of life.

Let go of fear.

Let go of doubt.

Let go of this exhausting need to control how your whole life unfolds, and allow life to take its natural course.

  1. Wow!
I’m experiencing the serene from letting life flow its natural flow.
Our fears and fixed ideas get in the way and cause everyone pain and suffering.
Life is going to be rather we surrender to it or not.
    Wisdom is knowing the difference.
Once we trying to be in control of everything we are out of control.
    Love this post!

  2. Absolutely! I’m alll for this rationale. We can sometimes focus so hard on achieving a specific something we forget to actually live our life’s. Fab post!

  3. I absolutely agree with each and every sentence of your post. I have been on a similar journey of learning. I am often amused at myself how deeply I know this and yet conditioning pulls me into the control mode, wanting to design it my way. It has gotten so much easier though thankfully!

  4. I felt like this was a love letter to me . . .and maybe it was. I have been practicing this for a good year, whole heartedly, but I really needed this today. It is a delighful practice that becomes habit, in time and it is very liberating, however today for the first time in a long while, I slipped today and so this was especially good for me-thank you.,

    1. You’re welcome Michele. I like the love letter concept. 💕 It made my heart sing. I can’t help to believe that we are all a work in progress. I have to be consciously aware of it myself. Be well.

  5. We are comfortable with routine. It makes us feel safe but there was a time when that routine was new. it’s easy to forget everything in our lives was new. Another thing we forget is that we made out all right.

  6. Agreed. Faith and hope…perfect mates. I like when they say, “keep your face to the sun and the shadows will be behind you.”💞
