I’M NOT PERFECT

I don’t have to be perfect.
Sometimes I fall.
Sometimes life’s shit gets to me.
Occasionally I just stumble.
I don’t stumble on purpose.

I stumble because I’m human.
I stumble because I’m not perfect.
In life we do things,
some we wish we had never done.
But they make us who we are and in the end, shape every detail about us.

who am I

It’s ok not be perfect.
I don’t have to be perfect to be lovable.
I don’t have to be perfect to be a good parent.
I don’t have to be perfect to be a friend.
I don’t have to be perfect to feel worthy.
I don’t have to be perfect to make a difference.
I am where I need to be.
I just have to be me.

      1. Doing really well, Bernice. Strengthening in my loving and forgiveness – and humor! 🙂 Hope you’re doing well and that your program is going magnificently. 🙂 Blessings.

  2. Thank you for sharing this beautiful post for perfectionists like myself. I was just contemplating redoing some chores I did yesterday because they were not done to my usual high standard. Thank you for saving me hours of work.

  3. Words that so many of us can relate to and breaking free of perfectionist thinking is a road worth traveling.
Please see my latest post with the opportunity to share a rewrite of a poem you have written in the past. I want to honor and celebrate the process of revision. I always appreciate your words.

  4. Thankfully none of us are perfect. If we were then no one would try to be better. I am not perfect, nor do I wish to be.

  5. A couple of things.
“Sometimes life’s shit gets to me.” So true. It happens with everyone. A lovable shit. Ha.
“But they make us who we are and in the end, shape every detail about us.” Without them, we are incomplete. They develop our souls.
“I just have to be me.” A super powerful message.
    Love your words.
    Live well.
