My father passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015. One year today.
I think of my dad every day. Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more conversation with him/her, to have one more chance to spend time with that person? I do. I miss him.
I talk to him in silence or out loud before I fall asleep or when I’m driving in my car or I enter my “art” room. In this room, I have a wall full of family photos and he’s there smiling right back at me. I know I’m fine because he’s watching over me (and my siblings/family).
In honor of my father’s memory I wanted to share with you a poem that someone else wrote.
In Our Hearts by Rose De Leon
We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
Now all we have is memories
And your picture in a frame
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we’ll never part
God has you in his keeping
We have you in our heart.
It seems the years are going by faster as I’m getting older. If you take the time to think about it, our life on earth is so short. We are living this Life…Today…Now. Do the things that matter most to you. Make your dreams a reality. Have fun! Who or what is there to stop you? Only you, my friend. In the end, it is only you.
