This quote sounds a bit intimidating, doesn’t it? Being human, is hard enough, and for those of us who want to live up to the expectations to the ‘Jone’s next door’ can be exhausting.
We run into many challenges in life when we aren’t comfortable with whom we are, and the great value we have to offer. We each have a treasure hidden in our lives that we take for granted and if we arenβt careful, we allow the enemy to rob us of the very thing God has entrusted to us.Β Our inner voice, our inner strength, our unique qualities and unique contributions we make daily to the world.
We are here to know our truth and learn how to speak and live with confidence and pleasure. All too often, we face the pressure to conform whether from others or ourselves. But it is really important that we feel free to be true to who we are as a person.
As a youngster, I would wear two different colored socks around the house. Even today, I catch myself doing the same under boots or sneakers. You think I care what my family or friends say…nah. But I do jokingly tell them that’s my creative side. π
We are all unique…stop trying to be like someone else and be yourself, everyone else is taken.
Thanks for the reminder to stay true. I can’t read enough about it as I use people’s blogs to bring my inner voice and truest self to the forefront. Meaningful post. A great reminder about the outer world creeping in. Been writing about my inner voice as well to get to know her and see how right she has always been…https://unbreakablejoy.wordpress.com/2017/02/17/last-rites/
https://unbreakablejoy.wordpress.com/ No pressure on reading my blog. It’s nice to share with like minds…
Thank you for passing by and sharing.
Reblogged this on My Little Corner of Life.
Thank you for the share!
You’re most welcome. I loved this piece and wanted more people to see it as well. Thank you for writing it!
Very true words, but being oneself assumes that one genuinely knows who one really is and I must say, I often doubt that many people know who THEY REALLY ARE.
Who takes the time to discover themselves; what they really want from life (not what others dictate) and how are we suppossed to “find ourselves” with all the superficial interference that surrounds us?
We must all find our own special path if we are to discover ourselves and when we genuinely embark on such a journey, it will be all worth while! π
Kind regards from my two furry friends and myself over at the “Gilmours Nice Place” blog. π
Agree with you – many people don’t know who they really are – but being authentic to oneself is important. Thanks for sharing your insights! I’ll visit your blog later today.
Authenticity is indeed, the way to go.
Thank you for your kind reply. π
I wear two different socks too xP
Haha. Good to know. π
Very true! I also love the quote from Oscar Wilde. I watched him in The Little Prince way back in college.
Great quote and your post added to it nicely. I also sometimes wear mismatched socks…I don’t think it strange at all.
I love this! Did you know that there is a sock company that makes mismatched socks for people like you! π It’s called Little MissMatched. π
OMG! I wasn’t aware of this. Have to look them up. π Haha. Thanks for the tip.
you’re welcome. i know they are on QVC if that helps. π
I love this and it is true, everyone else is taken π
Good post with wise & inspiring words.
It’s interesting how many in the rush to be ‘different’ end up conforming in another way. Being true to yourself is vital, that way you grow.
I often wear odd socks, but that’s because I have a bit of a thing distinguishing colours.
(But I’m a 65+ male so it’s sort of expected of me; my wife is very helpful in the matter)
love the quote. Inspiring post and you are so right. Thank you.
So true, very well said! The pressure to conform sometimes creeps in unknowingly and un-noticed.
haha! Now the girls “buy” mix-matched socks. Someone is raking it in π
Should’ve been me. Haha

A great post. My youngest daughter wears two odd socks all the time. π
I knew I wasn’t the only one. π
I’ll let her know that she’s not alone as well. π
Nothing like not worrying about what the Jones’ are doing !
Oh, I love that, two different colored socks! You’re definitely your own individual! π
