“Your Wings already exist, all you have to do is fly” – Unknown.
I attended an aerial yoga class with two of my friends. All I have to say is if you’re ready to turn your workout and yoga class experience entirely upside down, this is where’s it’s at. The class is a combination of yoga, pilates, and strength conditioning.
The moment I entered the studio, I noticed several colorful hammocks hanging from the ceiling beams. I was ready for the Cirque du Soleil!
The instructor started out with aerial poses, simple flowing sequences & basic inversions. When trying the challenging inversion poses I initially thought I wasn’t going to make it till the end. It was becoming a bit uncomfortable, engaging my core muscles to balance and stabilize myself but I didn’t quit.

However, as I was hanging upside down ~ suspended in air, I felt a decrease compression in my spine and it felt good but praying the hammock wasn’t going to let me down either. We all came out of the one hour class feeling great, elongated and of course hungry.

The following day my abs and shoulders were sore. I don’t have a muscular upper body so when we had to pull down on the hammock to lift myself up, I wasn’t landing as softly and slowly as everyone else. Ha.
This is yoga to the power of ten. 🙂
I’ve seen some ariel yoga pics posted recently and I’m intrigued by it. I’ll have to look into going to a class, but I know we don’t have that in my area. I’ll have to do some research, it does look like a workout for sure.
It surely was a workout. I didn’t feel it after class but felt it at my core the following days. 😉
This seems like a “must try”! Seems also like it could be a little painful if you do it wrong :O
The painful part I can agree with. 😆
that looks like it feels so good!
It did. Except for one moment I had the hammock all wrong and it was hurting me. The next day I was sore.
Looks so awesome, i have wished for a class to come here, near me
One day I’m sure. 🙂
That looks amazing! I have to try it…
It’s an experience. I can tell you that. 😆
A great experience
Yes it was. Thanks for stopping by.
Hanging upside down is my favourite bit of aerial yoga! I love the decompression through the spine.
Aerial yoga is definitely an experience. I’ve just signed up to aerial fit for September for 8 weeks so we’ll see how that goes. The beginner aerial I did was great. As you say hard but definitely a workout. Are you going to continue?
Going to take a class once a month. Let us know how that goes for you.
Glad you are going to keep it going. I’ll certainly let you know. Not sure I’m fit enough but I’ll give it my best try.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I was unfamiliar with aerial yoga but it would be great since I have arthritis in my wrist and ankle. Then again I might be too old and out of shape to go a whole hour- but I will look into it. Thanks again.
You’re never too old to try something new.
Just tired aerial yoga for the first time a few days ago as well…it’s becoming really popular! I think it’s an awesome activity to liven up yoga dates!
So good to know you’ve tried it. We were just talking about when we should try another class soon.
Cool! Looks like you’re having good fun. Nice post 🙂
It was a fun experience!
It looks it 🙂
That looks so fun!
It could’ve been a lot more fun if I didn’t have to think about how to balance myself. 🙂 I did laugh a lot thought.
I would definitely try it…I think?! 😁
This looks super fun but I’m just getting into yoga so I think I’ll wait to try this!
I’ll have to agree with you on this one. 🙂
This sounds interesting and adventurous. U seem to have enjoyed!
I did. So much so we’re planning to go again the end of the month.
Awesome! Have fun!!
It sounds like a very different experience, one that helps see things from a different perspective. And the hammocks look so comfy! I think I would be tempted to just hang out in them. 🙂
At the end we were in a ‘cocoon’ and it felt so good.
I can imagine. And a very beautiful cocoon for that matter!
Very cool!!!
It was definitely a unique experience. 🙏
I cannot imagine hanging like that- I’m so out of shape. Bravo to you for trying it!
You look refreshed and happy
I was. 🤗
Wow this is something I’d definitely like to try in the future! Thanks for sharing!
If you do, share with us your experience.
Definitely!
I’ve been practising Jivamukti yoga for some time, a yoga form which combines Vinyasa, meditation and music. I’ve heard about Aerial yoga but I don’t think it’s available at yoga schools in Norway. It looks great, really want to give it a try! Thanks for sharing your experience! 😊
I haven’t heard about Jivamukti yoga. Will have to look it up. Thanks for the share.
Sounds interesting 🙂
Fabulous! Shared with all my yoga friends on FB!
Thanks for adventuring into this and posting such great pics!
Best to you all and happy flying!

Thanks Sally! Hopefully you and your friends will find a class near you.
Fly! ❤️
Fly like a bird. 🙂
🙂 Hmm. Most interesting. I had no idea that there was such a thing known as, “Aerial yoga,” until I visited this blog.
Aerial yoga looks like a lot of fun!
I wouldn’t consider it fun at first. haha. But it will be if I continue with it.
