Finding Love on Dating Apps

Hello everyone,

As many of you may know, two years ago, after my breakup, I decided I would take some time out for self-care. It was the first time I lived on my own by myself and wanted to experience getting to know who “me” was. I still can’t believe two years went by.

For a few months now, two friends of mine, who are both married, who do not know each other, have been teasing me about getting back into the dating scene. I would ignore them….and I did…because I can.

Recently, I had a client come in for a session. As she spoke, she immediately turned the conversation around and asked me, “how many years have you been single.” She continued by saying, “I told myself it was only to be for a few months, and it slowly turned into 10 years. It was easy for me, and it became comfortable. Don’t do what I did.”

Do you believe in the power of three? Was she my earth angel? She continued by writing down the dating apps I may be interested in exploring. Seriously?! Haha

Anyone on any dating apps? How has your experience been?

So I’ve been toying with these opening lines. What do you think?

My soul mate is out there somewhere…pushing a pull door open. I just know it.

My hobbies include trying to close the elevator door before someone else gets on.

I’m leaning towards the second one.

  1. I’ve been online dating for awhile and I haven’t met the person who is pushing when the door clearly says pull yet. I feel like lately the success rate is being the surpassed by the unsuccessful rate and also the ghosting has become the silent way of saying they are not interested. I almost want to go back to the playground and do it right this time…you like me? No, okay. Next person, you like me? Yes. Okay, want half of my sandwich? If you get out there just get some tough skin. I’m still hopeful there is a diamond in the rough.

  2. I believe it is time for you to reenter the world of dating and find your soulmate. When I did relationship workshops, I had an exercise where participants made a list of six “must haves” and six “deal breakers.”(You can do more for each side, but things get muddled when exceeding 10 for each). This exercise really helps to hone your spiritual, ethical and emotional priorities — the things you need to feel loved, respected, compatible and safe.

I discouraged materialism as a “must have,” but not financial safety. It’s all about balance and stability, in its many forms. I do believe in soulmates, but we can all have more than one in our lifetime, romantically and platonically. We are not limited to one in a lifetime thank Goodness. Some people lose a soulmate through death or even divorce, but discover they have another. Every soulmate is different. Abundant blessings, MW 🙏

      1. phew … don’t know you well enough 😉

Had a colleague I’d known for years who just liked to party hard. She wrote an online persona that didn’t remotely describe her … to I asked to rewrite it. I was honest and she had dozens of men quite interested in the casual ‘relations’ she really hankered. So whatever your wish be honest and it should pay off 🙂
