To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh
We all want to feel loved. It makes us feel good, and it builds our self-confidence.
If we don’t feel loved it can bring up some intense emotions such as “I’m not attractive enough, skinny enough, good enough, I’m balding,” etc.
I was in the category of self-judgment. Doubting myself on certain occasions and not fully stepping into my power. This played out from time to time until I began to consciously become aware of it and began the healing process.
We should open our hearts to the most deserving person: OURSELVES! When we do this, we begin to feel worthy. We become more of our true selves and start to attract more and more love in our lives. Have compassion for ourselves. Our body is a beautiful vessel so we need to take good care of it.
It’s not selfish to love ourselves. It clears us so that we can love ourselves enough to love other people.
Let’s find a way to embrace and accept ourselves, even with our faults and imperfections. Let us take time for ourselves to focus our attention on what it means to LOVE OURSELVES; whatever that may be for you.
Cheers! Here’s to a full cup of Self Love! ~ xoxo
Great post. Agree. Self-love is important. I wrote an article on my website a while ago titled ‘8 flavors of love – Which one are you?’- https://authorjoannereed.net/lets-talk-about-love-8-flavors-of-love/ – Feel free to check it out!

Self love is so important. I didn’t realize my lack of self love until my lowest lowest after my last relationship ended. I spent a lot of time finding myself and discovering my self love. To this day I do have moments but I am way better off now since finding my voice and self love. Thank you for your post. It was beautifully written.

Agree. The Greeks understood that in order to care for others, we must first learn to care for ourselves. This form of self -love is not unhealthy vanity and self-obsession that is focused on personal fame, gain and fortune as is the case with narcissism. Instead, “Philautia” (self-love in Greek) is self-love in its healthiest form. You cannot share what you do not have. If you do not love yourself, you cannot love anyone else. I wrote an article on my website titled ” 8 flavours of love – Which one are you?” https://authorjoannereed.net/lets-talk-about-love-8-flavors-of-love/. Check it out!

Absolutely. How can we possibly have compassion for another if we have none for ourselves. If someone reading this should find it difficult to embrace their own heart with love, consider the small child you once were. Look on that child with the compassion you would look on any child. Send bounties of love to that wee one. Wrap her or him in a huge embrace of laughter and goodness.

Reblogged this on Mysticalwriter and commented:
Being Valentines Day is so close, one of things, to remember is some of us don’t have a Valentine to share this special day of love! So in turn for our self, is to give love to ourselves by going out & have a day pampering, giving ourselves a big hug or 2. Just reminding yourself that you are loved & wanted, 1st & foremost to yourself & by yourself.
Thank for you sharing!

Usually once we find that unique identity that is ourself, we naturally learn to love it. So yeah! Raise a glass to self-love and the ability it creates to open up to others.
