Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

Do you recall the feeling you get before embarking on a new adventure?

You may have felt a sudden feeling of apprehension that something is amiss or may have gotten excited, depending on your personality – to allow yourself to learn something new.

Did you know stepping outside your comfort zone may open new opportunities as well as challenges to pursue? You will discover new talents and strengths you thought you never had.

“Last year, at the young age of 49, I sat down in front of my computer and started this blog. I felt as if someone else took over my body because I didn’t talk about blogging  to my family or anyone else for that matter.  I sensed thereafter, there was a strong desire in my soul to write and share my thoughts”.

It will provide you with an entirely fresh perspective on life, as you meet new people, who bring their set of experiences to the relationship.

The possibilities are endless when you discover your new talents as you step outside your comfort zone.

You will look back one day and smile knowing it wasn’t all that uncomfortable.

Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. AT 50 I Started this blog; became faithful to it in December. Wish I didn’t tell Friends because apparently only 3 people in my group read it. So happy WordPress has writers and readers; you all let me know daily that I am on the right track. Thank you.

      1. Da South Bronx, is where I’m from. Yes. The beyond borders part, was my hope. Now I speak to writers from all over the world. So there is something to writing down your dreams. Best of luck to you.

  2. I can still get a little overwhelmed when I need to step out of my comfort zone, but I remind myself I’ve done it before. If it’s a new skill I need I turn to YouTube for tutorials! Such a great free resource!

I’m preparing to start a brand new phase of my life. Alone. Possibly in a new city, depending on where I get a job. I’ve been living with my daughter and grandchildren for a few years when the youngest was rediagnosed with cancer and my marriage fell apart.

This will be the first time I’ll be living alone since I was in my early twenties! I know I can do it but it will still take some getting used to!

  3. Starting my blog was also a huge leap that I took a few weeks ago. At that time, I had mixed messages even if anyone would even read my thoughts. I mean I am just a normal person, living in a piece of our universe, sharing my terrifying experience last year. Great Article! -Bruce

  4. Excellent post…
It’s good to see all you young folks in your 40s & 50s so all fired up with your ambitions. I refuse to quit this earthly realm until I’ve completed
    1. My fantasy trilogy (at least)
    2. My Six volume (less than serious) History of the British, Welsh, Scottish and irish Isles.
    3. Re-fought WWII on very large boardgames maps.
    4. Re-fought the Wars of the Austrian Succession likewise.
    5. And other stuff

  5. I love new and different, so that’s why I go above and beyond what I already know. I’m not exactly sure where my comfort zone is, or if I actually have one that minds being pushed beyond it’s limits. I just know that life is an adventure, and I love adventures. I get push back from time to time, but I come away with the experience of doing something I’ve never done before. If a body realizes that our brains need new food to stay healthy, they would push beyond as well. Even the fear, anticipation, surprise, and an occasional negative is healthier than stagnation.

  6. I love this! I think it’s easy to stay in our comfort zone. Blogging is scary too because you are “putting yourself out there.” It is also beautiful because you meet wonderful, creative, amazing people from all over the world with all walks of life. ❤️
